Chapter 28: Anger

I woke, jolting, as I hit the ground. It was a shock, but there was no pain.
"S-Sadie," I mumbled, glancing around. "Where'd they go?"
It took a while for me to register the tears that streamed down her cheeks, and the fact that no one else was there.
"Jared?!" I half-demanded. "Where is he?"
Sadie whimpered, and pulled me up, stuttering, "Jyagarenth got them."
"WHAT?!" I screamed. "How? I was only out for a second?"
"Alice, it doesn't even take a second for someone to be - to be k-killed," she fumbled with the words.
"We have to - They can't be..." I broke down in tears. "No, that's a lie... It has to be..."
I had only found my black wings and red eyes, and now Jared was gone. I was crying, but I felt numb. I didn't feel the pain. I only knew I had to cry.
"I have to get out of here," I hissed. "I need to - to destroy!"
Sadie's eyes opened wide with fear. "No," she gasped.
But I didn't realise what was happening. Everything took on a red tinge, like it had before, and white writing was intantly scrawled everywhere. Answers to the questions I'd asked while in Marlequin. Jared was human before, the last human. But he wasn't the last saviour.
This made no sense, but those words clouded my vision. I roared wordlessly, and shook my head. A tingle ran through my bones, sorrow and fury ruling me now. And I didn't care.
I needed to break something, I had to destroy something. Anything.
"Jyagarenth," I growled, my chest heaving as I breathed heavily. "Where is he?"
Sadie cowered away, and shook her head. "I don't know."
Like lifelong instincts, I threw a hand toward the ceiling of this place, and it corrupted, shooting toward the sky. Not one piece of rubble fell to the floor - it exploded into the atmosphere. My legs shot me up, and my wings helped me hover over the Redan Castle's main room.
The sky twisted in rage, screaming winds calling my name. Music seeped into my focus as the tears fell down my face. Black clouds hid the sun from me, and 'Missing' by Evanescence breaking my heart even more.
Something shiny caught my attention, but it was just a throne. I glanced to the ground, suddenly so far below.
"JARED!" I cried into the pouring rain. "WHERE ARE YOU?!"
Julietta and Alex crossed my mind, with Alex being a Redan ghost. Jared would have the choice, wouldn't he? Answers flashed through my vision again, and gave me the answer I didn't want to hear.
   Jared hadn't stayed - he'd passed on.
"I'm alone." The truth cut my heart, and a lump formed in my throat.
I was in pain. The only way to get rid of that was to annihilate something big.
   "The Tower," I breathed. I knew I wasn't thinking straight, but I didn't care.
The Tower was the cause of this all. The cause of me even coming here. Do I make it crumble?
   Answers flashed - again.
Yes. Yes, I would make it crumble.
"Stop!" I heard a feeble scream. "Alice, what are you thinking?"
"Arthur?" I asked, and glanced toward Bob - the hill that Jared and I had spent every spare moment on. It took no time at all to spear toward it, and stand in the air, a few feet away from the top of the hill.
   "Yes, stop this all!"
I shook my head, and laughed once, a lifeless laugh. "You don't understand. He's gone, Arthur, and he didn't even take the chance to be with me again."
"Alice, you don't understand! This is a trick!"
"No. Arthur, he didn't wait. I loved him... He didn't love me. He wanted me to hurt, like this, Arthur - he wanted me in pain."
I cried as the reality struck home.
"Stop it, Alice. You're falling for it!"
"Falling for it?!" I screamed, and the wind seemed to echo my anger. My long, shredded, white dress danced wildly in the air. "Falling for it like I fell for Jared's love?!"
He threw his hands in the air. "NO! Jared was NOT lying!"
"Yes, he was!" I cried. "I need to - to demolish something, Arthur. Everything that he's been in, ever!"
Arthur gasped as he realised I was talking about the Tower. "NO!"
   "It's too late, Arthur. I - I know, now..."
White writing flashed everywhere, and memories of people who were around when the last saviour had gone insane played in my head. It was so obvious - how didn't I see?
   "Know what?"
I raised my fingers toward the Tower, and a jolt ran through me as a white light beamed to the Tower. Like an earthquake, it waved and twisted in protest before falling into a mess on the ground.
"Know who the last saviour was..."
Arthur watched me, and his face turned to sorrow. "Oh, Alice..."
One more chapter, and say goodbye to Alice and Jared...
